Michael Handley, CEO OF Townsend, Joins Samaritan's Feet Board of Directors
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) August 20, 2014 -- Samaritan’s Feet International, a 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization, is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Handley to its Board of Directors. Handley is the CEO of Townsend, a network of outpatient addiction treatment centers in Louisiana, and brings a strong leadership and entrepreneur background to the growing Board of Directors.
“I’m continually inspired by the mission and vision of Samaritan’s Feet. When I was asked to serve on the Board, I humbly accepted and I’m honored to play an integral role while having a direct impact on the direction of the organization,” Handley said.
Handley has participated in several Samaritan’s Feet shoe distributions and has witnessed firsthand the positive impact the foot washing and shoe adornment has on children’s lives. In recent years, The Handley Family Foundation, the philanthropic division of Handley’s companies, had the opportunity to sponsor a shoe distribution at a school in one of the most impoverished areas of New Orleans. In July 2014, The Handley Family Foundation hosted a successful fundraiser for Samaritan’s Feet.
“To a child in need, washing their feet, speaking to them about their dreams, and affording them a new pair of socks and shoes is a remarkably special act. It’s rare to serve in an one-on-one intimate way and the results are truly astounding,” Handley said. “Additionally, Manny Ohonme (CEO and Co-Founder of Samaritan’s Feet) has allowed my personal passions to guide my participation and growth within the organization.”
Throughout Handley’s life, he has experienced the value of hands-on service opportunities that directly impact others. “My life has been greatly impacted by individuals who have taken the time to show faith in me and the value of my potential. I know that by showing someone, face-to-face, that you’re available, willing, and present to help and nurture them, that you are setting the foundation for their immense personal growth,” Handley said.
In addition to serving as the CEO of Townsend, Handley is also partner at Hedge Media Group and Sidewise: Brand Storytelling. Handley is also deeply involved with CrossFit and opened CrossFit Confederation, a new gym in Lafayette, Louisiana, serving dual purposes of community building as well as an extension of his addiction treatment program.
