EQtainment announced today that the company reached its $25,000 fundraising goal in less than a week on Kickstarter. The campaign generated so much attention that EQtainment’s campaign landed on the “popular” page of Kickstarter. Celebrities such as Larry King, Vanessa Lachey and Willie Robertson from Duck Dynasty tweeted out to their followers in support of the campaign.

“Kickstarter has changed the game for anyone with a vision and a goal and I can’t thank our supporters enough,” said founder and CEO Sofia Dickens. “The response from moms and teachers around the country shows a strong demand for teaching our children social and leadership skills.”

EQtainment, an educational media company developed by Harvard grad and TV personality Dickens, launched the Kickstarter campaign, http://www.bit.ly/EQtainment on August 12th. The campaign’s original goal was to fund the production of “Q’s Race to the Top,” the board game component of EQtainment.

Only about 42% of Kickstarter proposals reach their fundraising goal. The speed with which the fundraising goal was met suggests there is broad-based support in the EQtainment concept.

EQtainment was born when Sofia, a former Jeopardy Clue Crew member and Channel One anchor, began thinking about a parenting strategy for her kids based on an interest she developed with emotional intelligence (EQ) 10 years earlier at Harvard. A growing body of research suggests that improved EQ skills in children leads to better behavior and academic scores and is more likely to lead to life success - career, relationships, health and happiness.

The Kickstarter campaign will run for 30 days and will allow backers the opportunity to track the progress of the product along the way.
