Planned Parenthood Founder, Margaret Sanger, Will Be Brought To Life On Stage This Week in North Hollywood
North Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) August 19, 2014 -- Beginning on Thursday August 21st actress, Pamela Daly, will take the stage at the El Portal Theatre for her powerful one-woman portrayal of Margaret Sanger. The production, which will feature 12 run dates from August 21st – August 31st and is to be considered for Ovation Awards, will cover a broad range of sensitive topics relevant to Sanger’s life and professional legacy.
While some have criticized Daly for portraying such a controversial figure, others have shown strong support of her commitment to artistic exploration. Beyond the social and cultural impacts of the play’s topics; which include women’s rights, abortion and race; for history buffs and theatre enthusiasts, the show’s period-appropriate costume design will provide an accurate portrayal of Sanger’s life spanning over several decades.
Daly’s commitment to the production is grounded in her genuine love for theatre and a desire to be challenged by embodying such a gripping character. With this, she hopes that both liberals and conservatives who hold opposing views on topics covered in the play, will be able to come together in the name of art, and potentially gain new perspectives from the show which is comprised of 99% of Sanger’s own words.
Daly stated, “I’m inviting people to be part of this compelling story and discussion, because I believe that art is one of the best ways to address tough topics and to create a platform for open conversation.” With this, Daly is offering discount tickets on the El Portal Theatre website by using the code “DALY,” and is also hosting talkbacks after the shows on Sunday August 24th, Friday August 29th and Sunday August 31st.
