Every, summer, the NCDD holds its annual summer seminar at Harvard University where those lawyers, who practice DWI/DUI defense can learn new, or sharpen existing trial skills. This is done through lecture as well as breakout sessions, where lawyers can practice their skills in front of the nations top DWI defense attorneys.

This years lecturers were on the subjects that are critical in DUI defense such as:
*Opening Statements
*Handling Injury & Death Cases
*Out-of-State Licenses
*Avoiding Disaster
*Impeaching the Breath Test: A Low Budget Approach
*Cross of Their Extrapolation Expert
*SFSTs: New Manual-New Opportunities, with a cross-demo
*Jury Psychology: Finding Their "Not Guilty Button
*The "Just Say No" Case: Refusals at Every Stage of The Arrest
*Cross of the Blood Test Technician: A Low Budget Approach
*DUI Defense: Ethics & Excellence
*DUI Complications: Getting Into Canada

In addition, Roger Dodd, one of the nations pioneers on cross-examination, delivered the keynote speech.

During the breakout sessions, each attendee was given a model fact pattern and the opportunity to practice an opening statement and cross-examination before a pairing of the nations top DWI/DUI defense lawyers.

Those attending this seminar separate themselves from other lawyers, by showing their commitment to the defense of those charged with drunk driving. Since attending his first NCDD Summer Session in 2010, Mr. Hernandez has gone on to become a leader in DWI defense in New Jersey. When asked why he keeps attending, he replied “DWI defense is not stagnant. Whether through case law, science, or new technology, it is always evolving and therefore, so must I.”
