IpAuctions™ Inc. Opens for Bids This Week on U-Heal™ Patent Portfolio Auction
Reno, NV (PRWEB) August 25, 2014 -- The cost of care reached $25 billion in 2010, while the wound care products cost reached $15.3+ billion. Wound care is a primary function of hospitals and long-term care facilities. There are several causes of wounds such as bed sores from immobility, diabetes, surgical procedures, accident/injury, cardiovascular or peripheral vascular disease. The issue is the care of the wounds and prevention of infection. CDC statistics for 2011 shows sepsis, a common wound infection, is the 10th leading cause of death for ages 5-14, 45-54, and 65+; the 9th leading cause of death for 55-64 years of age; and the 7th leading cause of death for 1-4 year old.
The prevention and care of these wounds is addressed with this U.S. patent developed and tested over a 10-year period. Results of a Pressure Mapping Device study show significant pressure reduction using the U-Heal Wound Care device. The results of the testing, as well as 4 case studies, are shown in a PowerPoint Presentation in the Auction Sale Data Lot #1236.
The design allows for decreased pressure on the wound itself, as well as allow increased blood flow and air circulation. This increases the healing process while reducing the time, pain, and cost associated with wounds by reducing the risk of increased tissue damage and infection, specifically septicaemia better known as sepsis, a serious and potentially fatal blood infection. The uniqueness of the design is utilizing anti-bacterial materials in the layers and specific shapes as needed. This is not to be confused with simple pillow or body/bed pads. This is not a positioning application, but an actual wound prevention and elevation device.
The portfolio includes the U.S. patent, the submitted trademark registration, as well as a registered domain and working website. Several prototypes are available, consultation from the inventor if requested, as well as potential manufacture site already in place.
The auction is scheduled to run August 26th through 28th. Register to bid here.
