Anchor Center for Blind Children to Enjoy Fruits of 4th Annual Cherrity Pie Festival
Arvada, CO (PRWEB) August 21, 2014 -- Looking for a great family event to enjoy Colorado’s fall weather while supporting a local nonprofit dedicated to serving visually impaired children?
Look no further than this year’s 4th Annual Cherrity Pie Fall Festival to be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Sept. 13, at Anchor Center for Blind Children, 2550 Roslyn St. in Denver’s Stapleton neighborhood.
Presented by Pie Consulting & Engineering, a global forensic and building sciences engineering firm and by the law firm of Holland & Hart, this year’s festival will feature music, face painting and balloon art, a pie-eating contest, children’s games, a mini train, as well as a silent auction. All proceeds benefit Anchor Center, which provides visually impaired infants, young children and their families with hope and a nurturing learning environment where they can reach their highest potential.
“Anchor Center is the light in the forest for many Colorado families with a visually impaired child,” said Pie president Paul Duncan. “The early intervention and professional support provided by the center empowers these kids to not only succeed but thrive in life.”
The Cherrity Pie Festival is Pie’s hallmark community fundraiser and last year raised more than $26,000 for early intervention center-based programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Advance tickets are $15 for teens/adults and $10 for children, ages 2-12, and can be purchased at the events page http://www.anchorcenterevents.com. Tickets also will be available at the door for $20 for teens/adults and $15 for children, ages 2-12.
Among the many items available to bid on at this year’s silent auction are:
• 12-person wine tasting
• Family portrait session
• Indoor rock climbing gym passes
Attention Broncos Super Fans
In addition to the silent auction, a drawing will be held for an authentic signed Peyton Manning Broncos jersey. The jersey is professionally framed with Manning action photos and is valued at $1500. Tickets for the drawing are just $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased via the events page at http://www.anchorcenterevents.com. The winner will be randomly drawn electronically on Sept. 15 and the winner does not need to be in attendance at the event.
Founded in 1982, Anchor Center for Blind Children is a nationally recognized, private, non-profit agency providing services for blind and visually impaired children. The only organization in Colorado providing early intervention and education services for children from birth to five years old, Anchor Center currently serves about 400 children a year.
“Three of our core values here at Pie are Community, Integrity and Optimism.” Duncan said. “When you see first-hand the positive impact that the Anchor Center has made on so many Colorado families, it’s easy to see why our company and staff generously support this important event, year after year.”
“The financial support we have received in sponsorships from our community partners including both local and national companies has been a catalyst to generating more than $70,000 in direct donations to Anchor Center for the three years we have held the Festival,” Duncan added. “We thank all of the sponsors and partners for their support of the Festival and are excited to meet or exceed last year’s proceeds.”
“We are so appreciative of the continued support and awareness Anchor Center receives from Cherrity Pie Festival,” said Anchor Center’s special events coordinator Dawn Schipper. “This is a great opportunity for all families to join together in a day of fun while making a difference for Anchor Center. We encourage everyone to attend and look forward to welcoming you!”
