Fast-growing 180 Medical Moves Into New 60,000-square-foot Office in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (PRWEB) August 22, 2014 -- A national leader in home delivery of medical supplies, 180 Medical, is moving into new offices with room to grow.
Headquarters for the provider of sterile-use catheters and ostomy supplies is relocating to a 60,000-square-foot office building at 8516 N.W. Expressway in Oklahoma City.
Rapid growth at 180 Medical – named one of the Oklahoma’s best places to work by OKCBiz magazine – demanded more space and an expanded staff. The company has hired 120 in the past two years, and staff count grew 30 percent in the past year to hit the 300 mark.
The new office about 10 miles north of the previous 180 Medical headquarters will be a recruiting device in itself, said Director of Human Resources Sharon Hodnett. With easy access to the Kilpatrick Turnpike, the headquarters campus is located in a park-like setting surrounded by restaurants, shopping centers and banking facilities.
Construction crews have opened the soaring atrium lobby to the center of the building, painted walls and installed new carpet and flooring with pops of bright color – all designed to “bring some energy and reflect a fun company,” Hodnett said. Employees can make use of the additions of a gym with lockers and showers, a full workout facility with treadmills and other equipment, and an expanded break room that offers free continental breakfast.
“Truly, 180 Medical is a very special company,” Hodnett said. “We know the way we treat employees will show in the service we give to our customers.”
The special culture of 180 Medical can be traced back to founder and CEO Todd Brown. Paralyzed in a 1994 motocross accident, he created the company with the sole purpose of getting state-of-the-art products to other people in similar situations, reducing urinary tract infections and likewise turning their lives around.
“We want to create a culture where people want to come, versus an environment where you just go to work every day,” Brown said. “We try to find people who are very motivated and like to work hard, but who like to have a lot of fun, as well.”
Despite a pace of five to 10 recruits joining the company each month, and close to 30 current open positions in roles from entry-level warehouse to customer service representatives, 180 Medical is keeping its hiring standards high, Hodnett said.
Besides computer proficiency, customer service skills and attention to detail, Hodnett said the “very different hiring practice” at 180 Medical selects people with passion – those who “want to do something that makes a difference and are a joy to be around.
“They like to take care of other people.”
