Pulmonary Hypertension Association Goes On the Road to Houston With an Education Forum for PH Patients and Families to Help Fight Rare Lung Disease
Silver Spring, Md. (PRWEB) August 21, 2014 -- Pulmonary Hypertension Association goes on the road to Houston with an Education Forum for PH patients and families to help fight rare lung disease.
Who: The Pulmonary Hypertension Association – the country’s leading pulmonary hypertension association that works to find ways to prevent and cure pulmonary hypertension (PH) – a disease of the lungs that affects the functioning of the heart and can lead right to heart failure. Without treatment, mean survivability is only 2.8 years.
What: PHA On the Road – A free full-day regional education forum that delivers much needed PH education and support to patients and families in areas close to home. The forums feature interactive presentations, education sessions and networking opportunities with other patients, caregivers and medical professionals.
When: Saturday, September 6, 2014
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Where: The Westin Houston, Memorial City
945 Gessner Road
Houston, TX 77024
281-501-4300
Why: PHA’s mission is to find ways to prevent and cure pulmonary hypertension and provide hope for the community through support education, research, and advocacy and awareness. PHA does this by connecting and working together with the entire PH community of patients, families and medical professionals. The community of treating physicians has grown from 100 in 1994 to more than 10,000 today. PH has as many or more treatments than all but three of the top rare diseases, growing from one treatment in 1996 to 12 in 2014. Three of those treatments were approved in the last quarter of 2013.
PHA designed the On the Road program to reach PH patients, caregivers and medical professionals across the country every year, especially those who are not able to travel the PHA’s Biennial International Conference and Scientific Sessions.
