SurplusGLOBAL received approval on Aug. 12th 2014 from the Korean government to establish a new R&D facility to support their customer’s technology needs. The current used semiconductor equipment market in Korea is approximately twenty trillion won. Secondary semiconductor equipment has become an essential part of the infrastructure for almost all manufacturing areas within Logic, Memory, LED, MEMS, Solar, and TSV and plays a major part in managing budget control.

The new R&D facility will have eight thousand square feet of clean room space. This area will be set up to provide in-depth process consulting, specific foundry services, and other technology development services related to semiconductor manufacturing. The company has already initiated new technology development such as vacuum coating and is analyzing the use of secondary semiconductor equipment for nanotechnology manufacturing.

SurplusGLOBAL has gone from offering “as is where is” equipment to “demo in place” to “refurbished” to “turn-key” solutions. With the addition of the new R&D facility, SurplusGLOBAL will be able to meet customer’s needs from inception to production.

SurplusGLOBAL is located in Osan, South Korea and has well over one thousand used semiconductor systems available for inspection and purchase on display in over 3 warehouses. They are a global leader in the used semiconductor equipment market.
