Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Easy Guitar Riff Over a II V Chord Progression - Rhythm Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) August 22, 2014 -- In today’s easy beginner jazz rhythm guitar lesson Jon demonstrates a cool riff over one of the most commonly used chord progressions in jazz, the II V (Two Five) chord progression. This chord progression is based off of the second and fifth degrees of the major scale. Jon demonstrates this riff in the key of G over an A7, which is the second degree, and a D9, which is the fifth degree. MacLennan starts off with an Am (A minor) triad that consists of 7th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger and baring the first finger across the 5th fret of the first three strings, which he plays using the hybrid picking technique by playing the 4th string with a pick and the other strings with his fingers, played as 1/4th notes, with the 4th string counted as one and the other strings as two. Jon continues with the 7th fret of the 5th string with 3rd finger for beat three and then the 5th fret of the 4th string with first finger. Next Jon moves his first finger down one half step to the 4th fret for beat 4 and bars his 2nd finger across the 5th fret of the first three strings and plays them simultaneously with his fingers for the and of four and then plays the 4th string chromatically back up to the 7th fret to start the riff over again. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
