Silicon Valley Fencing Club Celebrates One-Year Anniversary after a Promising First Year
Campbell, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2014 -- On August 21, 2013, the Academy of Fencing Masters opened its doors for the first time with just one fencing class and only a handful of fencers. After only a year, the club now has a full spectrum of fencing classes from Beginner to Competitive across all age categories from Youth to Adult. The academy was founded with a mission to teach excellence in fencing, but also in real-life values, and its founders have stayed true to this goal.
According to club founder Irina Chirashnya, “Our fencers have received dozens of medals, earned and improved fencing ratings, received national points, and more, but we are just as proud of the transformations we've seen that go beyond fencing. We've watched children who hated sports come to love fencing so much that they don’t like to go a day without it. We've watched children go from shy and unsure to self-confident and self-aware. Nothing is more rewarding than having parents tell us their child is now happier and healthier because of fencing.”
As AFM heads into its second year, the club has made some schedule changes to accommodate for continued growth and to make sure the structure continues to challenge the fencers and provide them the right opportunities to grow.
