On Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:30 pm, a press conference will be held in the Executive Conference Room at the Parkersburg Municipal Building, located at One Government Square, Parkersburg, WV 26102. The press is invited to attend the conference which will mark the official commencement of Worthington Creek’s development, and discuss its impact on the community.
Worthington Creek is projected to create over $3.1 million in income for the local economy. This will include wages for workers and revenue for local proprietors, small businesses, and corporations. In addition, Worthington Creek will generate 54 new jobs during its construction for local contractors and sub-contractors.
The project will begin in late 2014 with completion slated for summer 2015. The property will include on-site management, a community room for resident events, a business center with computer work stations, a media/gaming room for resident entertainment, as well as many other amenities you would expect to find in an upscale home, at an affordable price: gourmet kitchens, brand new energy-efficient appliances, large walk-in closets, and a laundry room which includes a full-size washer/dryer and plenty of extra storage.
The project was funded in part by the City of Parkersburg/Wood County HOME Consortium. The Consortium contributed $100,000 to the project by way of a low-interest loan. The Consortium’s investment is helping to meet the need for affordable housing for adults 62 and over in the region.
