Be California Friendly and Wash Waterless. When water shortages and droughts lead to strict water laws and car wash bans, car owners can be left high and dry. WESTSIDE Detail Pros brings a new method of car cleaning that is not only environmentally friendly but also Waterless.
Knowing the severity of the current drought in California, Julian Colker, made the conscious decision to be “eco & environmentally” friendly when he opened up WESTSIDE Detail Pros last summer. He felt he had a responsibility not only to the community of Beverly Hills but to his daughter Zooey. “Teaching social responsibility to the next generation is extremely important as a parent. By conserving water, we can show them how we personally can take action and have an immediate positive effect," said Colker.
WESTSIDE Detail Pros waterless car wash method has nano-polymers that cling to the dirt creating a ball bearing effect (tiny capsules that capture the dirt), lifting the dirt from the surface of the car which is then wiped to a clean finish with a micro fiber towel. Then a second clean microfiber towel is used to buff the surface of the car to bring out an incredible shine, essentially providing a waterless wash and wax. This process also protects the car’s exterior from building up dirt and gathering dust faster than traditional methods.
For over 60 years, Jack Colker owned and operated “The Station of the Stars,” a 76 Gas Station and Convenience Store in the heart of Beverly Hills. After the passing of Jack Colker in 2012, Julian Colker, Jack’s grandson, then re-joined the family business.
When Julian was a teenager he worked alongside his grandfather learning the importance of customer service and the high standards of their Beverly Hills clientele. Now, after years working in Downtown L.A. commercial and domestic real estate, he has returned to his Westside roots with a vision for the family business’s sustainable growth for the future. It is something that has been disappearing from the landscape of American cities, towns and roadsides, a small business built on the shoulders of a family patriarch, then nurtured and grown through generations. It’s a tribute to the past while securing a commitment to a successful future.
While the 76 Gas Station and Convenience Store continues to be owned by his grandmother, Dvorah Colker, Julian has expanded the services offered by launching WESTSIDE Detail Pros, an eco-friendly auto detailing center and car wash. WSDP offers full service detailing without using Los Angeles’ precious water, which benefits the customer and the city which continues to experience severe drought conditions. Julian is especially proud of their state-of-the-art Waterless Wash process which is specifically designed to not scratch paint by using a complex mix of oils and polymers that surrounds and clings and lifts the dirt leaving the car surface clean, shiny and protected.
The building features an iconic roof designed by the famous architect William Pereira and originally intended to be a part of LAX International Airport. This is one of the best examples of Googie Architecture in all of Los Angeles, the Beverly Hills Historical Society has named it a Cultural Heritage Site and deemed it a Beverly Hills City Monument. Mother Nature Network, a popular environmentalist website, lists Jack Colker 76 as one of the 14 gas stations in the United States worth a ‘pit stop’.
Colker 76 Gas Station and WESTSIDE Detail Pros are located at 427 North Crescent Drive, at the corner of North Crescent Drive and Little Santa Monica in the heart of Beverly Hills. Detailing and car wash services are available six days a week, 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Saturday with last call at 5pm everyday.
