...seeing clearance scans in 3D with our new collision avoidance tools allows users to focus quickly on danger areas – areas of near misses – and easily investigate how to fix problems.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 25, 2014
Dynamic Graphics (DGI) announces a new version of its well planning / directional drilling software, WellArchitect 4.1. In addition to numerous upgrades for the WellArchitect client-base, WellArchitect 4.1 offers a new tool to the industry: interactive 3D collision-avoidance / clearance-scan visualization available during planning and while projecting ahead during drilling. The new tools display collision-avoidance symbols and 3D MASD (minimum allowable separation distance) tubes in the Well Path Designer’s Viewer. The collision-avoidance symbols can be used to highlight areas of concern in the 3D Viewer that would not be readily visible by reviewing traditional reports. In addition, the new collision-avoidance symbols can remain displayed in the Viewer while the user modifies a plan, allowing revisions to be visualized against the clearance-scan information. Demonstrations of the new features of WellArchitect 4.1, along with other DGI software products, will be available at the Dynamic Graphics booth, #1925, at Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC), August 25-27, 2014.
“WellArchitect greatly improves the well planning and directional drilling workflows. Traditional 1D reports and 2D traveling-cylinder plots are great. But seeing clearance scans in 3D with our new collision avoidance tools allows users to focus quickly on danger areas – areas of near misses – and easily investigate how to fix problems. These interactive tools make revising well plans much quicker, reducing iterations between running scans and changing the plan.” Dynamic Graphics President, Art Paradis
WellArchitect, developed in conjunction with Baker Hughes, is an advanced well planning and survey management system for integrated planning and drilling of directional wellpaths with or without earth models. Devised to seamlessly accommodate the needs of sidetracking, multi-lateral wellpaths, and re-entry drilling, WellArchitect is used at both the office and wellsite, by all personnel levels in the industry. Trajectory calculations, target erosion by positional uncertainty, reporting, plotting, and 3D visualization are all included in this package.
