Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) August 26, 2014

Christians for Biblical Equality’s Houston Chapter (CBE Houston) will be given an award of excellence for empowering women on November 14, 2014.

During their 1st annual fall luncheon, the Houston Graduate School of Theology (HGST) will acknowledge four local organizations dedicated to empowering religious leaders to use their gifts and talents without restriction. The selected organizations educate, encourage, and equip men and, particularly, women to serve and lead in their churches and communities.

“We are delighted to announce that Christians for Biblical Equality's Houston Chapter is one of the organizations that HGST has chosen to recognize this year,” stated Angela Ravin-Anderson, HGST’s chief advancement officer. “We are so pleased to honor the many ways CBE Houston blesses our city and people everywhere with the message that God distributes spiritual gifts without regard to gender, ethnicity, or class for ministry and service in the kingdom.”

CBE’s Houston chapter grew out of a 2011 CBE conference that was held in Houston, TX. Chapter leaders include Ann Bayliss, Wiley Clarkson, Celina Sisk, Kathy Straker, Shirley Taylor, and Mabel Yin. In addition to conferences, CBE Houston holds regular chapter meetings and has an active social media community. CBE Houston seeks to provide a place to meet like-minded Christians, discuss topics related to the biblical support for shared leadership and service of men and women, and take action in the community around Houston, TX.

HGST has been training and equipping men and women to be servant leaders in Houston for more than thirty years. “HGST’s mission is grounded in joining the reconciling work of our Lord in Houston,” noted Ravin-Anderson, “We are blessed to partner with other missional groups that also endeavor to declare and demonstrate God’s grace.”

In its effort to advance a biblical foundation for gift-based rather than gender-based service, Christians for Biblical Equality sponsors annual conferences, facilitates local chapters, hosts an online book service, and publishes two award-winning journals.
