Denver’s Local Savory Spice Shop “Celebrating 10 Savory Years”
Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 26, 2014 -- Savory Spice Shop first opened its doors and launched its ecommerce website on September 15th, 2004, as founders Mike and Janet Johnston fulfilled their dream of opening a small business. Mike’s background was in the spice business and Janet’s in marketing. Being passionate yet unconventionally educated ‘foodies’, Mike and Janet immediately received rave reviews for the superior quality of their spices and seasonings.
“On our first day of business I think we did $97 in sales and we were thrilled. We worked on the Savory concept for 2 years and we had finally opened the doors,” said Janet Johnston, Savory Spice Shop Co-Founder. “The Denver community embraced us in a way that any small business could only dream of and word spread quickly. We learned early on that offering a high quality product at a fair price was a concept people could get behind. Mike and I are so thankful to the people of Denver for their continued support and we feel humbled and fortunate to still be doing what we love.”
“We have grown tremendously over the past ten years with seven locations throughout the Denver Front Range and 24 locally owned and operated shops across the country,” said Mike Johnston, Savory Spice Shop Co-Founder and Janet’s husband. “This anniversary is something we are really proud of and is cause for celebration for the entire Savory Spice Shop family.”
Savory Spice Shop on Platte St. was such a success that Mike and Janet opened their second location on Main St. in Littleton in 2006. In 2008 they partnered with long-time employee Dan Hayward to open the third Savory Spice Shop on Broadway in Boulder. Later in 2008, Mike and Janet made the decision to franchise and opened the Lowry Town Center shop as the first prototype for national expansion.
Savory Spice Shop has since grown to be a collection of locally owned and operated community spice shops across the country. Savory Spice Shop offers over 500 spice related products, including a vast selection of high quality, freshly ground herbs and spices and more than 175 handcrafted signature seasonings. The shops are over-flowing with rich, wonderful aromas from around the world as the spices and seasonings are ground and blended weekly to ensure superior quality and freshness.
