National Resident Matching Program International (NRMPI) is pleased to participate in the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) Conference being held at the MiCo Milano Congressi in Milan, Italy August 30 – September 3, 2014. As an exhibitor, NRMPI will meet with members of the international medical education community, share the benefits of its matching services, and discuss ways in which to strengthen resident physician placement in countries throughout the world.
“Exhibiting at conferences like AMEE provides a great opportunity to connect with the global health community, to learn about medical education in other countries, and identify ways in which NRMPI can assist in those endeavors,” said NRMP Executive Director Mona M. Signer. “We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with public and private agencies and grow our list of international partners.”
NRMPI is a subsidiary of the North America-based National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). For more than 60 years, NRMP has matched medical school students and graduates to U.S. graduate medical education programs in the United States using an award-winning matching algorithm and state-of-the-art technology. NRMP historically has attracted graduates of international medical schools interested in training in the United States but can meet and respect the unique cultural and geographical differences of other countries.
The NRMP Match
The Match uses a computerized mathematical algorithm to align the preferences of applicants with the preferences of residency program directors in order to fill training positions available at U.S. teaching hospitals.
Research on the NRMP algorithm was a basis for awarding the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2012.
The National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) is a private, non-profit organization established in 1952 at the request of medical students to provide an orderly and fair mechanism for matching the preferences of applicants for U.S. residency positions with the preferences of residency program directors. In addition to the Main Residency Match, the NRMP conducts Fellowship Matches for more than 50 subspecialties through its Specialties Matching Service® (SMS®).
