Dog Park Publishing's Kissed By A Pit (#KissedByAPit) Campaign Challenges Pit Bull Owners to Share Doggie Kisses, Help Mistreated Dogs and Animal Shelters
Union City, NJ (PRWEB) August 28, 2014 -- Dog Park Publishing (http://www.dogparkpublishing.com) created its Kissed By A Pit, #kissedbyapit, philanthropic campaign to reinforce positive awareness of pit bulls as loving, devoted pets. The campaign asks pit bull fans to take a photo or video of themselves or a friend or family member receiving a "kiss," or lick, from a pit bull-type dog and share it to their social network, with a pledge to donate at least $5 to a local non-profit animal shelter or rescue group. In addition, Dog Park is giving $5 to animal rescue groups for every order processed at http://www.dogparkpublishing.com through the end of August.
The initial response to #kissedbyapit since its launch on August 20 at http://www.facebook.com/ittypitties has been overwhelmingly positive. Dog Park Publishing estimates that more than 3,000,000 people have seen the campaign across social media networks and more than 10,000 people have shared photos or videos, raising more than $50,000 for animal shelters and pit bull rescue organizations in less than one week. Actresses Sophia Bush, Emmanuelle Vaugier and comedienne Rebecca Corry have participated, as has mixed-martial arts fighter Gordon Shell. Other celebrities who support pit bulls and have been asked to participate include Charlize Theron, Jessica Biel, Linda Blair, Jon Stewart, Rachel Ray, and Lake Bell.
"This campaign creates positive awareness for pit bulls and financial support for those groups helping all types of animals in need," said Alfred C. Martino, co-founder, Dog Park Publishing. "We are grateful to the wonderful pit bull owners across the world who are participating and helping to change false impressions about these great animals. The vast majority of pit bull related incidents can be directly linked to human cruelty, negligence or stupidity. Conscientious pit bull owners know that their dogs are wonderful pets who should not be subject to breed specific legislation, media misrepresentation or the false labeling as dangerous,"
Even through dogs commonly identified as pit bulls are not technically part of the breed known as pit bull, they are recognized by large heads, muscular builds and devoted personalities. Pit bulls score a higher passing range than the popular Border Collie, with the American Temperament Test Society. Pit bulls are not human aggressive, and the opposite is true when trained properly - they are gentle and loving dogs. The #kissedbyapit campaign reinforces this fact while providing support to the groups helping these animals the most.
