California (PRWEB) August 28, 2014
Astrophysics, Inc., manufacturer of conventional and air cargo security X-ray inspection systems, today announced that U.S. Congressman Ed Royce toured its headquarters this week and met with the Company’s senior executives and employees. Congressman Royce was also able to view a live demonstration of the Company’s next generation counter-terrorism technology. During his presentation to the Congressman, Astrophysics Founder and CEO, Francois Zayek, highlighted the Company’s recent growth, which has brought more than 50 new skilled jobs to the local area, and outlined his vision for continued expansion.
“Our strategy to design and manufacture here in California greatly enhances our ability to provide and service superior X-ray screening products for our customers,” said Mr. Zayek. “Our commitment to maintaining a local supply chain has proven to make us more competitive in the marketplace and made Astrophysics a market leader in our industry. More than 85% of Astrophysics products are exported overseas, and we are pleased that Congressman Royce shares our vision and passion for creating jobs here in California that provide growth to the economy and assist in the fight against terrorism worldwide.”
Astrophysics’ cutting edge threat detection systems use six-color imaging technology and enhanced viewing angles for more accurate detection of guns, explosive devices and other safety threats as well as contraband. The company’s systems are used at checkpoints in airports, courthouses and sporting events as well as in sea ports and at borders.
“Astrophysics is a company making products that keep us all safe, and it's doing it right here in our backyard – growing the economy and creating high paying jobs in Southern California,” said Rep. Royce. “While our country has the best educated and most productive workforce in the world, policies that promote STEM education at our schools and lessen regulatory burdens for American businesses will ensure that success stories like Astrophysics are far more common.”
The company’s U.S. manufactured systems are used in more than 100 countries, making Astrophysics one of the most significant exporters of X-ray technology globally.
