Hively Landscapes' ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Aside from getting soaked for a good cause, it's really important to us to spread the word and drive donations for ALS research.

The social media frenzy surrounding the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has just enjoyed another uptick thanks to central Pennsylvania’s Hively Landscapes for accepting the challenge, and spreading the word! Upwards of 100,000 “likes” and over 170,000 “shares,” and counting, qualify central PA’s leaders in landscape design as the proud owners of the latest viral phenomenon surrounding the challenge aimed at ALS awareness. Watch the video here. The ALS Association has reported nearly $80M in donations thus far as a result of the ice bucket challenge taken by Hively Landscapes and countless others.

“Aside from getting soaked for a good cause, it’s really important to us to spread the word and drive donations for ALS research, said Owner and General Manager, Ted Ventre, “so getting wet and raising awareness is a win-win.” He added, “It’s always good to rally the community around something critical like ALS research, and it’s definitely a bonus when it gains traction even outside of our team and community.”

Hively’s viral Facebook post was complemented by a separate challenge from its General Manager, Ted Ventre. Each employee that dared stand below the tractor bucket filled to the brim with ice water would warrant an extra $15 donated per employee from the company. On top of that, each Facebook “like” or “share” would move the Landscaping specialists to pledge an additional $1 a piece (with a contribution limit of $1,110). The limit was certainly met and hundreds of thousands have now seen the video that’s making headlines as a result.
