For the last two years, Safas Corporation has developed and manufactured Beaushield®, a compressed granite looking acrylic 1/8” (3mm) an1/4” (10mm) veneer sheet at its Clifton, NJ USA plant for its European customer. Now, Safas will be marketing Beaushield® to customers in the United States.
“A number of years back, we were approached by one of our most loyal European customers, who asked us to use our core granite solid surface granule business to produce an acrylic sheet for them,” said Fateme Ghahary, President of Safas Corporation. “Our customer was forced to change from our spray-on solid surface technology (Granicoat®) to laminating countertops, due to stricter environmental controls in Europe. We immediately set out to develop a compressed acrylic veneer product, which matched the current color assortments and provided the material hardness necessary to make their countertop business a success. This could not have been done without compressing the veneer sheets. After two years of successfully producing Beaushield® for our European customer, we feel confident that the US market is ready for a product such as ours.”
Fateme Ghahary continued, “While our customer has successfully manufactured lightweight worktops/countertops for years using our thin veneer sheet, it can literally be used anywhere laminate is, but will provide a better look with enhanced quality and durability.”
The R&D work we have done on the Beaushield® Solid Surface line resulted in two patents by the late Safas Corporation President and Inventor, Dr. Akbar Ghahary. Due to the issues natural mica caused, Dr. Ghahary developed the concept of a large engineered mica which looks identical to the real large mica chip. The difference is the engineered mica can be sanded without dimpling and cratering.
