Specialty Pharmacy Solutions Founder Reveals Winners of Innovation Competition in August Issue of AIS Newsletter
Washington, DC (PRWEB) August 27, 2014 -- Catamaran’s BriovaRx Specialty Pharmacy and Diplomat Pharmacy, Inc.’s Diplomat University were announced as the winners of Specialty Pharmacy Solutions’ Innovation Competition in the August issue of Atlantic Information Services, Inc.’s (AIS) Specialty Pharmacy News (SPN). In an article penned by the company’s founder and Principal Consultant Bill Sullivan, exclusive to SPN, the two companies were commended for meeting the true definition of “‘innovation:’ ‘a new idea, device, or method; the act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or methods.’” Prime Therapeutics LLC received an honorable mention for its Copay Offset Program.
BriovaRx was selected for its Live Video Consultation Service. The video application, the first of its kind, establishes a face-to-face connection between a new-to-therapy patient and his/her clinical pharmacist. “The use of interactive video breaks the barrier of traditional — and somewhat limiting — social media and allows for real patient engagement,” Mr. Sullivan asserted.
Diplomat University, an employee educational and training program, was selected for its evolution into a resource that can be customized for external audiences. “This inventiveness moves beyond simply processing prescriptions and demonstrates that there is a place for the company to lead the industry in knowledge with the unique perspective of a strong clinical foundation,” Mr. Sullivan declared.
Prime Therapeutics’ Copay Offset Program’s honorable mention was given for its “contrarian approach in regard to specialty medicines, believing coupons can be vitally important due to the high cost and lack of generic options for specialty medicines,” Mr. Sullivan stressed. Since its 2013 launch, the program has helped nearly 20,000 members save $21.2 million on specialty medicines.
Specialty Pharmacy Solutions LLC held the competition in order to identify the most innovative specialty pharmacies in the country in terms of strategies, services, tools and business concepts integral to moving the industry forward. In late spring, specialty pharmacies filled out submissions, which were reviewed by an independent panel of specialty pharmacy experts, including Mr. Sullivan, SPN Managing Editor Angela Maas, and Health Strategies Group Research Director Howard Flushman.
The competition will be an annual event.
