Joseph Federico, President of the Lou Costello Charity Tent of Paterson, NJ, Announces the Presentation of Its Second Annual Scholarship Award
Clifton, NJ (PRWEB) August 27, 2014 -- Joseph Federico, President of the Lou Costello Charity Tent of Paterson NJ, presented its second annual scholarship to Gianela Espinoza of Eastside High School. Eastside High School is a four year public high school in Paterson, NJ.
Miss Espinoza was chosen to receive the second annual Lou Costello Charity Tent Award in recognition of her scholastic excellence in the areas of science and technology. She will be attending Fairleigh Dickinson University starting in the fall.
“On behalf of the tent, we are pleased to make this presentation in the name of our tent hero and former Paterson, NJ native Lou Costello to Miss Espinoza in recognition of her outstanding scholastic achievements,” said Joseph Federico.
Originally started in the 1970s as the Lou Costello Tent by Mr.Costello’s personal physician and longtime friend Dr. Fred Crecente, the organization is comprised of prominent members of the professional and business world.
The organization has raised thousands of dollars for charitable organizations via celebrity dinner roasts, casino nights, and golf outings. Celebrities who have been roasted in the tent’s history include Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, Chuck Scarborough, Mel Allen, Phil Simms, Lou Duva, Daryl Strawberry, Sen. Bill Bradley, Rocky Graziano, Henny Youngman, Pat Cooper and Bob Grant.
After a long hiatus, former Director and current President Joseph Federico revamped The Lou Costello Charity Tent of Paterson, NJ with the permission of the Costello family as a sub-chapter of the National Circus Saints and Sinners of America, Inc. It was established to continue the fund raising principles of the previous tent to aid charity organizations and charitable causes by holding fundraisers of various types.
Upcoming projects include a national meeting of all the Circus Saints and Sinners Organization members to held in Atlantic City, NJ on November 7-8, 2014 at Resorts International.
