XIMEA USB 3.0 Cameras Support Linux ARM Platforms

This interoperability extends camera integration capabilities to new application areas like wearable imaging systems, small UAVs, etc.
XIMEA’s xiQ series industrial-grade cameras with USB 3.0 interface now come standard with support for ARM CPU delivering stunning 350MB/sec running under Linux Ubuntu 14.04 on ODROID embedded module. ODROID module is based on Samsung Exynos 5 Heterogeneous Multi-Processing SoC.
Compatibility of xiQ cameras controlled by xiAPI (XIMEA free API/SDK) with ARM based embedded platforms powered with Linux opens new horizons for building compact, low power and cost efficient embedded imaging systems.
Camera’s extraordinary compact dimensions of 26.4 x 26.4 x 19.1 mm and weight of 27g make it ideal for hosting at drones and lightweight airborne systems. Cameras are available with B/W, RGB Color, NIR (Near Infrared) and Hyperspectral sensors (see also: http://www.ximea.com/en/technology-news/imec).
Battery operating applications will benefit from power consumption of mere 1 to 1.8W.
Additional integration capabilities are available with board level versions and backward compatibility with USB 2.0 host controllers.
The series of xiQ cameras offer all the features customers have come to expect from XIMEA’s cameras, including fastest USB 3.0 speed, opto-isolated trigger input, illuminator control output, non-volatile memory for user settings and custom data, VGA to 4 Mpix resolution high-quality CMOS sensors, global shutters, frame rates up to 500 fps.
Support for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Linux ARM coupled with this largest complimentary offering of application programming interfaces (including Cognex, Matrox, National Instruments, MVTec, and many more), xiQ greatly simplifies OEM efforts to integrate cutting edge imaging technology into larger manufacturing, medical, security, and medical systems.
