Mentalist Michael C. Anthony Takes His ALS ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ to the Next Level With an Illusion Worthy of Houdini
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) August 28, 2014 -- When mentalist Michael C. Anthony (http://michaelcanthony.com/coll) announced his 21-city, 16-state college campus tour, he had no idea someone would nominate him for the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge.” So, between appearances, Anthony created a mind-teasingly whimsical illusion—in addition to donating $100 to the ALS cause.
The award-winning performer is a client of MCAads.com (http://www.myclassifiedads.net), a full-service advertising agency based in Florida. His video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0YbXRgO3Js&list=UUGKQkONQmv6V7d0qAtn0cGQ.
Anthony started his campus tour on Aug. 16 at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC. He performed his ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” at the University of Arizona West, in Phoenix, AZ. Speaking from Connecticut College in New London, CT, Anthony described his illusion as “a cool idea” that took “a lot of work.” A viewer of the video put it this way: ”I thought it was just another Ice Bucket Challenge until something bizarre happened.”
Anthony is recognized as one of the most successful stage hypnotists in the world. In fact, Campus Activities Magazine named him “Campus Male Performer of the Year.” The popular Tampa-based entertainer has made more than a thousand appearances on college campuses and hypnotized more than 40,000 people.
VH1 calls Anthony “The best stage hypnotist on the planet.” He has appeared on CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox and is the only American stage hypnotist featured in “The Idiots Guide to Hypnosis” by Dr. Roberta Temes. It was a relative who sparked Anthony’s interest in hypnotism.
“My uncle (Joe Lamonica) was a stage hypnotist,” he explains. “I got interested through him. He taught me some things, and then I went from there, and took it to the crazy place it is now.”
Anthony describes hypnosis as “an art form” that can be learned by anyone.
“Hypnosis must be practiced to master,” he said. “It’s not always simple, but like anything—once you get the hang of it—it becomes second nature.”
