Stop & Stor Donates and Deeply Discounts Storage Units to NYC Charitable Groups, Causes, and Families
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 27, 2014 -- Responding to a need amongst not-for-profit organizations and others who are facing difficult circumstances, Stop & Stor has lent a hand to many groups and individuals in the New York City area needing storage space to store a variety of items.
“We recognize the budgetary constraints many charities face as well as the immediate needs faced by families who are dealing with something unexpected. When those challenges are presented to us, we try and do what we can to help out. Providing access to our storage units is just one way we support our community and our neighbors,” said Jeff Henick, Chief Operating Officer of Stop & Stor.
The following are examples of the types of assistance given to local New York City groups, families, and causes.
National Lighthouse Museum – Staten Island, NY
At Stop & Stor’s South Shore storage facility, a 5X10 storage unit was donated to the National Lighthouse Museum for three years during the fall of 2011 until the spring of 2014. Needing a larger storage unit, Stop & Stor provided one, a 9x12 storage unit, at a deeply discounted rate.
“We are very grateful for the Stop & Stor’s donation of space for our educational materials,” said Linda Dianto of the National Lighthouse Museum.
Salem Church for Hurricane Sandy – Staten Island, NY
At the West Shore storage facility, just after Hurricane Sandy, Stop & Stor donated two storage units to Salem Church for all donated items to be distributed to persons in need. Just recently, the church was able to consolidate to one unit and Stop & Stor is still donating the storage unit to the Church at no charge.
“We are very thankful to Jeff Henick and Stop & Stor for their ongoing generous donation of storage units so necessary in Salem Church’s efforts to help rebuild lives affected by Superstorm Sandy,” said George Zaloom of Salem Church.
Home Fire Victims Receive Storage Space Donation
Kathy Dowdell’s family was involved in a four alarm fire at their Staten Island house and lost almost everything. Richard Nicotra, owner of Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomfield, Staten Island, was renovating some rooms and replacing furniture in his hotel, and he offered to donate the old furniture to Kathy's relative, but she needed a place to store it until the house could be repaired. Stop & Stor responded by donating a 10X15 storage unit to the family from June through September.
Michael’s Cause
Michael's Cause recently contacted Stop & Stor because they were in need of a storage unit to store items donated for their fundraisers. Stop & Stor was able to rent a 5X10 unit at a much discounted rate.
“We would like to take this opportunity to recognize Mr. Jeff Henick and the Stop & Stor family for supporting Michael's Cause over the past 2 years. Stop & Stor sponsored our last 2 major events. In September 2013 they were an event sponsor for our Step for a Cure 5K run and walk which was held at Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island. In March 2014 they took a Bronze level sponsorship at the Believe in Miracles Dinner Dance which was held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Staten Island. In addition Stop & Stor has supplied Michael's Cause with a storage unit to help maintain many of the event supplies. On behalf of everyone at Michael's Cause we would like to thank Stop & Stor for helping make our events a complete success and help us continue to raise awareness of Duchenne and direct vital funding to research to find a cure,” said Robert and Theresa Capolonogo.
