“I am thrilled that more people are taking the steps to visit their dentist. As dental professionals we can only educate our patients on the importance of regular dental check-ups if they come into surgery

(PRWEB) August 29, 2014

Tariq Drabu is a Manchester born and educated dentist and specialist oral surgeon. He graduated at the age of twenty one, making him one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the UK before working in some of the busiest dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia. He received his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Today he is the owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice and is also the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. Dr Drabu is also an active tutor and mentor to postgraduate dentists in oral surgery at the UCLAN Dental Clinic in Preston.

Tariq Drabu was speaking about an article on a top dentistry website. The full article, which was published on 21 August 2014, can be read here.

Tariq Drabu said “A survey conducted by HSCIC (Health and Social Care Information Centre) advised that 29.9 million adults and children visited a NHS dentist in the last twenty four month period. The great news is that this is an increase over the previous twenty four month period with adult numbers considerably higher than children numbers. Another piece of information that was established through this survey is that there is an increase in NHS dentist numbers since the last 2006/2007 report.”

Tariq Drabu went on to say “Twenty two million adults visited a dentist in the past twenty four month period, but only just under eight million children attended a dental visit in the same period. It is imperative that children start seeing their dentist from a very early age and we have seen a lot in the dental press on children with cavities from a very young age and the number of hospitalizations due to this. North England saw an increase in the number of children visiting their dentist by over three percent over the previous twenty four month period.”

Tariq Drabu closed in saying “I am thrilled that more people are taking the steps to visit their dentist. As dental professionals we can only educate our patients on the importance of regular dental check-ups if they come into surgery. The same applies with children. We can teach them the correct brushing procedures and educate their parents on tooth care for children, but we can only do this once we meet them face to face.”
