Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 28, 2014

The IT industry saw a small increase in employment with the addition of 3,700 jobs for the month of July, according to the latest employment numbers from the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics released earlier this month.

July’s job numbers in the data processing, hosting and related services industry increased by 1.37 percent to 273,900 total jobs over the previous month. June reported 270,200 jobs, an increase of only 0.56 percent over May’s reported jobs number. This industry data includes computer programmers, computer support specialists, computer systems analysts, application developers, and systems software developers.

The computer and electronic product manufacturing sub-sector, which includes computer hardware engineers, computer software engineers (applications and systems software), electrical and electronic engineering technicians and equipment assemblers, and semiconductor processors, grew by only 1,600 jobs or 0.15 percent.

Overall, the total nonfarm payroll employment increased across all industries by 209,000 jobs in July, while the unemployment was little changed at 6.2 percent. The majority of job gains occurred in the professional and business services, manufacturing, retail trade and construction sectors.
