Trident University International Welcomes California State Senate Candidate Mario Guerra to Its Offices
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) August 28, 2014 -- On Thursday, August 14th, Trident University International (Trident) was pleased to host a visit from Mario A. Guerra, California State Senate candidate. Guerra, President of Independent Cities Association representing 53 cities and seven million people, former mayor, and current councilmember in Downey, California, recently won the Republican nomination for the 32nd State Senate District. While the 100% online Trident sits just outside of the 32nd district, many of Trident’s employees live within its borders.
A member of the U.S. Army Advisory Board representing the L.A. Battalion Roughriders, Guerra is a strong supporter of the military and viewed his visit to Trident as a key opportunity to learn about what the university is doing to support the educational needs of active duty and transitioning military members. Active duty service members, reservists, and National Guard members make up approximately 66% of Trident’s current student population.
“Trident University has a remarkable commitment to active duty and veteran members of our military as they seek to transition into higher education and career opportunities. Trident showcased a high level of understanding on military to civilian transition issues and has a faculty and staff that understand military culture. Trident and its faculty, staff and administrators work hard to support the academic goals of our service men and women,” Mario A. Guerra, Candidate, California 32nd State Senate District.
During his visit, Guerra met with key Trident stakeholders to discuss the history of the university, its growing student population, academic offerings, and the career development services and opportunities available to students and alumni. Members of Trident’s senior staff who spent time with Guerra include Andy Vaughn, President & CEO, Brett Shively, Senior Vice President of Outreach & Partnerships, Debbie Letourneau, Senior Marketing Director, and Tanya White-Earnest, Career Advising & Development Center Manager.
Guerra has been a member of the Downey City Council since 2006, and is a successful small businessperson, community leader, and current President of Independent Cities Association. Guerra has resided in Downey for 35 years and was named Non-Partisan Elected Official of the Year for Los Angeles County in 2011.
This release does not serve as an endorsement for or against 32nd State Senate District candidate Mario Guerra.
