Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) August 29, 2014
AltMed, a fully integrated Sarasota company that brings pharmaceutical industry precision to the development and production of medical cannabis, has been granted zoning approval for its primary location in Sarasota County.
"Sarasota County officials acted quickly and decisively with a total commitment to attracting new industry and the job opportunities we look forward to creating," says David Wright, President and CEO of AltMed. "Their responsive and business-optimized approach confirms our choice of Sarasota County as the ideal location to build our company."
"Sarasota County's board of County Commissioners and our Administrator endeavor to promote an environment that's conducive to successful businesses starting here, growing here and staying here," said Jeff Maultsby Director of the County's Office of Business and Economic Development.
The zoning approval empowers AltMed to move forward with planning and construction of facilities designed to provide medical cannabis to patients in Florida. Construction will begin as soon as AltMed is granted a medical cannabis licence by the State.
The nursery location is east of I-75 and is zoned Open Use Estates-1. The official letter from the county confirms that AltMed's plan to proceed with cultivation, processing and dispensing of medical cannabis under Bill 1030, the Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act of 2014, is considered "a permitted use for the district."
