Team VersaTech and CRGT Win HHS FDA Contract to Support Food Applications Regulatory Management (FARM) System Upgrade
Reston, VA (PRWEB) August 29, 2014 -- The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), awarded a five-year, single-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract and the first two task orders: “FARM V Operations and Maintenance” and “Development, Modernization and Enhancement (DME) for FARM VI” to the team of VersaTech and CRGT.
Overarching contract objectives include:
• Upgrade FARM platform from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11gR2
• Improve master data management of firms and food master data, resulting in enhanced content management
• Improve data governance, quality, profiling and integration between FARM data sets and Scientific Information Retrieval Exchange Network (SIREN) to facilitate search and retrieval and data sharing
• Optimize FARM content management moving current FARM workflow processes towards Intelligent Business Management
• Manage IT configuration, upgrades and software programming processes related to front-end processing and back-end integration with FARM workflows.
The FARM System is a mission-critical system supporting CFSAN’s core responsibilities of reviewing pre-market submissions for substances added to food under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act as well as petitions and notifications submitted under the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA). It further functions as the data repository for over 50 years of regulatory data, indexed and searchable by the scientific staff for the purposes of analysis and approvals.
