"It's not just about being unionized, it's about the overall mission."

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 01, 2014

Tru-Comp Payroll + HR is the first truly unionized and progressive-only payroll service in the U.S. "It's not just about being unionized, it's about the overall mission," says Tru-Comp senior staffer Maddie Stern.

Tru-Comp has a voluntary recognition agreement ("VRA") with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union - District Council 3 ("AFSCME DC 3"). A VRA allows a company and union to avoid an antagonistic organizing drive - and move directly to collective bargaining as a majority of employees show union support.

"We expect to have a new collective bargaining agreement ("CBA") in place soon," says AFSCME DC 3 Director Patrick Moran: "Equally important, though, is understanding that ADP, Paychex, Ceridian, Intuit - and many others we spend where member dues get misspent - do not support working families. All may claim to care about various causes, but they are exclusively driven by stock prices and profit. We're proud to be allied with people that have an all-around commitment to working families and progressives -- and we're a Tru-Comp payroll client too."

"It's Labor Day," says Tru-Comp senior staffer Maddie Stern: "There are lots of ways to honor Labor - having a collective bargaining relationship is primary. Ironically, our largest corporate competitors are the first to take advantage of gains won by Labor: an eight-hour work day, weekends off and this very holiday. Worse, when unions and progressives use their services, its union member dues that pay their freight."

Says union leader Moran: "I think we're onto something here. It matters where we spend dues money. Is it old-school to say 'buy union?' - only if you're a trade unionist that thinks it doesn't matter. It does."

Stern adds: "We hope like-minded providers join us. We can help expand their work - they just need to meet our mission. All are welcome!"

Tru-Comp Payroll + HR is the first-of-its-kind mission-driven payroll service. Established in 2009 -- and now on a best-in-class software platform -- Tru-Comp offers unprecedented transparency and give-back programs. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, AFSCME DC 3 is the fastest growing union of its kind in the U.S.
