Albany Medical Center & New York Oncology Hematology Announce October Oncology Research Symposium CME Credits Available for 8th Annual Event Topics Focus on Breast, Lung Cancers and Tumors of Unknown Origin
Albany, NY (PRWEB) September 02, 2014 -- “Transforming Basic Science into Clinical Practice” is the theme of the 2014 Translational Oncology Research Symposium. This continuing medical education (CME) –certified conference will be held October 16th and 17th at the Hilton Garden Inn at Albany Medical Center.
Hosted by Albany Medical College and New York Oncology Hematology, P.C. (NYOH), the region’s largest provider of cancer care, the 8th annual CME event is jointly provided by the Medical College of Wisconsin. The 2014 symposium will focus on breast and lung cancers, as well as tumors of unknown primary origin.
Friday morning’s keynote address features Carlos Arteaga, MD, the current president of the American Association for Cancer Research. Thursday evening’s keynote speaker is Vincent Miller, MD of Foundation Medicine, Cambridge, MA.
Vincent Verdile, MD, dean of Albany Medical College and executive vice president for health affairs at Albany Medical Center and Lawrence Garbo, MD, chairman of the NYOH Research Committee, will moderate the symposium.
Attendees can earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™ by participating in this 1.5-day conference.
By bringing together local and national experts in clinical oncology and basic cancer research, the CME conference aims to raise awareness, build collaboration and foster translational oncology in the Capital and Adirondack regions of New York and beyond.
The symposium is co-chaired by Paul Higgins, PhD, and Paula McKeown-Longo, PhD, co-directors of Albany Med’s Center for Cell Biology and Cancer Research, and Karen Tedesco, MD, director of the NYOH Hereditary Cancer Risk Assessment Program. Dr. Tedesco also serves as the CME course director for this activity.
