An avid reader, it is no surprise that sooner rather than later, author G. L. Skye found his other calling which is writing. Setting his debut story in a post-apocalyptic America, Skye narrates a compelling tale while tackling various facets of real life, today. “Return to Life” (published by Xlibris) is an action-packed adventure that highlights man’s innate ability to survive — for himself, especially for his loved ones.

As chaos engulfs the world, one man faces the challenges of protecting those dear to him and trying to set the world right again. Morgan Russell “Russ” Turner is a man with an ingrained sense of duty and of right and wrong. Facing challenges that would cause most men to give up, Russ faces each new challenge with skill and determination. Refusing to give up or quit, he begins to form a group of survivors called the Golden Eagles.

The Eagles work quickly to become self-sufficient and self-reliant. Salvaging everything possible from the towns around them pits them against gangs, thugs, and other human trash. Russ must decide the fates of their enemies while balancing the lives of those who’ve turned to him for protection and safety. With the fate of his parents unknown, the urgency to gather equipment and materials before they can be destroyed or taken drives him to set aside his personal fears and feelings in order to ensure the Eagles, and all their dependents, survive.

Spotlighting Russ’ sense of duty and loyalty to those he loves and promised to protect, as well as his resourcefulness and resilience, Skye was able to channel his view of a man the world needs in order to keep it from crumbling. Realistic and fast-paced, this adventure provides more than entertainment, it gives real insights.
