Dean Nelson, Head of the Business Recovery and Insolvency team at Smith Cooper has been shortlisted for the Corporate Insolvency Practitioner of the Year Award at the Insolvency and Rescue Awards 2014.

Now in its seventh year, the awards are firmly established as an important date in the industry’s calendar. Dean joins 8 other finalists in the Corporate Insolvency Practitioner of the Year Award category but is the only Midlands based advisor up for the award.

Dean commented: “It is an honour to be shortlisted with so many excellent insolvency practitioners, but to be the only Midlands based advisor on the shortlist is astonishing. I am extremely proud of our achievements at Smith Cooper and will continue to lead our dedicated Business Recovery and Insolvency team to growth and expansion.”

Dean’s nomination for the award focussed on his journey at Smith Cooper. Under Dean’s leadership, Smith Cooper’s Business Recovery and Insolvency team has grown from two professionals in Derby to a team of 11 dedicated, enthusiastic and highly competent experts based around the Midlands in Derby, Nottingham and Birmingham with a turnover in excess of £3million.

The winners will be announced at the prestigious awards ceremony in London on 1st October 2014.

Smith Cooper has won 3 awards in the past year alone, including Midlands Tax Planning Firm of the Year 2014, Corporate Finance Advisory Firm of the Year 2014 and Regional Accountancy Firm of the Year for the second year running.
