Williamsburg, VA (PRWEB) September 03, 2014
One of the most important weeks in Virginia’s Historic Triangle is coming in late September as the area hosts the four-day Colonial Williamsburg Early Music Festival, September 23-26, 2014, and the 200th Anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner on September 27, 2014.
Several venues throughout Colonial Williamsburg will host concerts during the four-day music festival including those featuring rare instruments, a performance of the comedic “Thomas and Sally,” and programs of favorite selections of our first commander-in-chief. Performances are open daily to the public in the Governor’s Palace Ballroom, Wren Chapel, Hennage Auditorium, Bruton Parish Church and the Hall of the House of Burgesses at the Capitol.
Families also can join the day-long celebration of the 200th anniversary of the writing of the Star-
Spangled Banner, a day filled with concerts, lectures and an interactive concert for families. Several art museums in Colonial Wiliamsburg will host events throughout the day where families can enjoy music from the War of 1812 and learn of the people and events that inspired Francis Scott Key to write his stirring poem.
Tickets for the Colonial Williamsburg Early Music Festival and events commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner can be purchased at http://www.colonialwilliamsburg.com.
