Jeff Zucker, President of CNN Worldwide, to Speak at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 03, 2014 -- Jeff Zucker, the president of CNN Worldwide, will be the featured speaker as the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School opens the seventh season of its Leaders + Legends lecture series at 7:30 a.m. September 11, 2014, at the school’s campus in the Harbor East area of Baltimore.
The title of Zucker’s planned presentation is “24/7 Management: Decision Making in a Changing Global Media Market.”
Zucker assumed the leadership of CNN Worldwide in January 2013. In that role, he oversees 23 branded news and information businesses, which include the company’s U.S. television network as well as CNN International, CNN Digital, and HLN.
Previously, Zucker worked for more than two decades at NBC, starting in 1986 as a 21-year-old researcher for the network’s sports department. In 1992, he became the executive producer of NBC’s Today, at 26 the youngest person to hold that title in the long history of the morning program. He became president of NBC Entertainment in December 2000, president of the network’s Entertainment, News & Cable Group in December 2003, president of the NBC Universal Television group in May 2004, and chief executive officer of the NBC Universal Television Group in December 2005. In February 2007, he was named president and CEO of NBC Universal, guiding the global media and entertainment company that includes the NBC broadcast network, its news division, and cable entities such as MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Bravo, Oxygen and Syfy.
Zucker graduated from Harvard College in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in American history. He served as president of The Harvard Crimson from 1985 to 1986.
Born and raised in Miami, Zucker has won five Emmy Awards. He and his wife have four children and live in New York.
The Carey Business School’s Leaders and Legends lecture series provides a regular forum in which prominent figures from government and industry share their experiences and their thoughts on current relevant topics, particularly in regard to the global economy and matters of leadership.
