Projector Reviews Releases 2014 Best Home Theater Projectors Report and Awards Ahead of CEDIA Expo
San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) September 03, 2014 -- Each year, Projector Reviews, Inc. releases its Best Home Theater Projectors report. This year, the report compared approximately two-dozen home theater projectors that have reviewed in the last year. Those entries represent ten manufacturers. Projectors are organized into three price “classes:” Under $2000, $2000-$3500, and $3500-$15,000 projectors.
The full report is now online, featuring a shorter, reorganized, and more streamlined format this year. BenQ, Epson, JVC, and Sony took home top honors this year. This year’s award winners, by price class, are below:

$3,500-15,000 – Best in Class: Sony VPL-VW600ES
$3,500-15,000 – Best in Class, Runner-Up: JVC DLA-RS49/RS4910/X500R

Editor and founder of Projector Reviews, Inc., Art Feierman, had this to say about those projectors considered:
“The home theater projector market is maturing, even as overall quality has continued to improve. This year, however, there were fewer projectors considered than in past years due to a number of factors, such as major changes in industry players and timing. Consider: Mitsubishi exited the projector business altogether, and Panasonic did not release any new products on the home theater projector side this past year.”
“That said,” Feierman continued, “there were new projectors at virtually every price point that outperformed previous models. This year's crop of top home theater projectors may be smaller than last year, but the winners are truly impressive. In fact, only one of our award winners was even shipping 15 months ago. All in all, this years’ best projectors raised the bar a good bit.”
Feierman also pointed out that home theater enthusiasts now have some expensive true 4K projectors to choose from, plus there are more projectors which might be called “pseudo” 4K, as they use some 4K methods of image handling but do not have 4K panels/chips.
This report comes just ahead of the 2014 CEDIA Expo, where many new projectors will be announced. Most of the new home projectors being shown at the CEDIA show will be shipping in Q4 2014, or in Q1 of next year.
“We are definitely expecting to see a few revolutionary projectors this fall, though as is typical, most will be simply ‘evolutionary,’ sporting modest improvements.
