“Today I want to show you an easy country blues lick that I learned from Stefan Grossman,” says Johnson. “You can check out his course, Ultimate Country Blues, if you want at UltimateCountryBlues.com.”
Claude demonstrates this cool lick that is based in the pentatonic scale as follows: open 6th string to the 8th fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger and bend it up slightly one ¼ step and follow that with the open first string. Next Claude moves to the 6th fret of the 3rd string with first finger to the 8th fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger and bend it up slightly one ¼ step and follow that with the open first string. And finally Johnson ends the lick by bending the 8th fret of the 2nd and first strings simultaneously and then sliding from the 2nd fret of the 5th string with first finger to the 7th fret and then the open 6th string again. Claude performs this lick repetitively, so you can hear how it should sound.
