In Charleston, we see a strong market that has lost service following airline consolidation – and that’s a great niche for us.

PEOPLExpress™, built on the platform of an iconic brand to make air travel affordable and accessible, today announced new, non-stop service between Charleston’s Yeager Airport and Orlando International Airport effective Oct. 16.

“People have been very receptive and supportive of our service and now we’re delighted to add West Virginia’s capital to our growing route map,” said Jeff Erickson, a long-time airline executive heading PEOPLExpress.

“We’re here to fill a void in the market with a fun, creative and innovative approach to air travel that dispels the myth that low air fares have to mean low service or an impersonal experience.

“Every week more and more people are embracing our mission to restore respect, value and excitement to the air travel experience. By connecting Charleston with Orlando we’re offering even more reasons to say It’s Time to Fly Smart!™”

Service between Charleston and Orlando will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with Boeing 737 aircraft. Introductory fares start at $49 each way. Reservations are now open for the new route at or by calling toll-free (844) 4-FLYPEX.

Charleston is the first destination to be added outside the PEOPLExpress base at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport.

“We continue to fill gaps in air service with new non-stop flights and low fares people have been asking for,” Erickson said. “In Charleston, we see a strong market that has lost service following airline consolidation – and that’s a great niche for us.”
