Over 450 Parish Leaders Attend Amazing Parish Conference
Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 05, 2014 -- Over 450 participants from 119 parishes and 21 non-parish church organizations attended the first-ever Amazing Parish conference, held Aug 27-28 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center.
“This is the first step in building a national movement dedicated to supporting and renewing parishes in the United States,” said author Pat Lencioni, who helped organize the conference and provided one of the keynotes. “We want every parish that wants to be amazing to know there is a community of other parishes who want the same thing."
The conference featured nationally known Catholic speakers and authors such as Fr. Michael White and Tom Corcoran (authors of Rebuilt: Awakening the Faithful, Reaching the Lost, and Making Church Matter), Lisa Brenninkmeyer (founder of Walking with Purpose, a Catholic Women’s Bible study program), Jeff Cavins (creator of The Great Adventure Catholic Bible Study), Curtis Martin (President and Founder of FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students), and Matt Manion (President of the Catholic Leadership Institute).
Attendees were also treated to a concert by Grammy-nominated recording artist Matt Maher.
Response from attendees was extremely positive, with over two thirds of the parishes indicating they plan to continue to address the topics raised in the conference when they returned home.
The conference is one of three initiatives in the Amazing Parish movement. The other two are a website (http://www.amazingparish.org) and a team of trained experts to provide consultation and support to parishes both by phone and on-site.
Lencioni says the Amazing Parish movement has plans to remain in regular communication with the conference attendees through e-mails, phone calls and webinars. Plans for another conference are already underway.
