Rosewood Post-Acute Rehabilitation Nationally Recognized by Medicare and US News and World Report for Skilled Nursing Facilities
Carmichael, California (PRWEB) September 19, 2014 -- The number of Americans who spent at least part of 2013 in a skilled nursing facility exceeded 3 million, and similar numbers are expected for 2014. How did millions of people find the right place for their family members, loved ones or themselves? Having to face such a challenge can be a daunting process. Frequently asked questions including, "Where will I receive the highest quality care?" "Where will I be treated like a resident, not just a patient?" and "Where is the cleanest nursing home with the best food?" weigh heavily on their minds.
In an effort to lighten the burden of such an important choice, U.S. News and World Report recently released its fifth annual "Best Nursing Homes" report. Using data from the federal agency that sets and enforces standards for nursing homes, U.S. News awarded the "Best Nursing Home" designation to homes that recently earned an overall rating of five stars, highlighting the top nursing homes in each state and nearly 100 major metropolitan areas. The ratings cover more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide and are freely available at http://www.usnews.com/best-nursing-homes. Medicare likewise rated each nursing home with one to five stars based on separate measures of quality of care, health-inspections record, and level of nurse staffing.
Medicare’s ratings are based on a three-part system: health inspections, quality measures, and staffing. Health Inspection ratings are comprehensively based on the three most recent annual inspections. Over 180 regulatory standards within the health inspection are in place for the purpose of protecting nursing home residents. Certified and trained inspection teams including at least one registered nurse measure certified nursing homes based on these standards. More information about the Medicare five-star rating system can be found at http://www.medicare.gov/NursingHomeCompare/About/Ratings.html
In a recent article by The New York Times, the Medicare rating system was challenged based on claims that were not investigated thoroughly. Bill Myers, Senior Editor for Provider Magazine, the industry’s leading publication, responded to the article.
“The New York Times story, for example, concluded that providers are ‘gaming’ the system simply because not every piece of information reported to the government is independently validated. Yet the article did not offer factual evidence that providers were systematically furnishing exaggerated or misleading information. In fact, Medicare routinely conducts in-depth audits to validate the information facilities provide to justify their payments.”
In sum, Rosewood Post-Acute Rehabilitation—like all nursing home facilities—is subject to rigorous, independent, and unscheduled surveys, and its five-star status is well deserved.
Locations like Rosewood Post-Acute Rehabilitation, a facility serviced by North American Health Care, Inc. received the 5-Star rating after passing thorough inspections. Medicare has given all 35 facilities serviced by North American Health Care a five-star rating. Statistically, less than 23% of all skilled nursing facilities in the United States will achieve this level of success. No other similar organization in the United States has consistently achieved this level of patient care.
“Rosewood Post-Acute Rehabilitation has a central focus on serving our patients and residents,” said Michael Moore, Administrator of Rosewood Post-Acute Rehabilitation. “We are passionate about providing the best care in a comfortable setting that is conducive to rehabilitation and recovery.
Residents and family members are highly complimentary. “We couldn’t get over the way the nurses took care of my husband as soon as he was assigned a room…We were both relieved because we were under heavy stress before arriving at Rosewood. He has now progressed and we’re very satisfied with the care he is receiving”; “I’m sending a letter to thank you and the staff for the care you are giving my father. It’s good to know he is in a safe, clean and caring environment,” and “If it is possible to go from 100 percent of caring to 110 percent of caring, your people have achieved this accomplishment. In the future need for rehabilitative purposes Rosewood Post-Acute Rehabilitation will be our first choice” are some of the recent testimonials that speaks to the quality, community and care of Rosewood.
