Lakeview Health and Stepping Stone Addiction Centers Celebrate National Recovery Month with Jacksonville Community
Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) September 05, 2014 -- Two Jacksonville, FL addiction treatment centers are helping to build awareness of chemical dependency and recovery by educating the local community through the sponsorship of special events held throughout September. Now in its 25th year, National Recovery Month promotes the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental and substance use disorders. National
Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.
“Not unlike other diseases, addiction can be devastating when left untreated,” explained Roy Serpa, President and CEO of Lakeview Health.“ One of the great reasons why National Recovery Month is so important is that it focuses attention on the positivity surrounding recovery and not the symptoms of the disease.”
The public is invited and encouraged to participate alongside Lakeview Health and Stepping Stone in these events that seek to remove dated stigmas surrounding the disease of addiction and promote the positive and healthy lifestyle that comes with recovery.
