Guatemalan Cultural Celebrations Held at the L. Ron Hubbard Community Auditorium in South Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 08, 2014 -- Guatemalan national officials and leaders of the Guatemalan Community in Los Angeles celebrated the grand finale of the “Guatemala Week 2014” with a marimba concert, colorful traditional costumes, music, dance and entertainment at the L. Ron Hubbard Community Auditorium of the Church of Scientology Community Center in South Los Angeles.
Attendees included members Singer J.C Barios, Artist Julio César de Leon, writer Victor Leonel Quiñonez, President of the Guatemalan Immigration Committee Paul Bieri and Guatemalan Congressman Julio César Villatoro.
Awards were presented to members of the Los Angeles Guatemalan Community by Guatemala City Representative Adolfo Antonio Lemus and artist Gustavo Séptimo for their outstanding contribution in preserving the culture and heritage of Guatemala in Los Angeles.
The Church of Scientology Community Center located on 8039 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, hosts community events throughout the year and provides a variety of community programs and information to address drug abuse, education & literacy and the restoration of traditional moral values. One of these programs includes The Way to Happiness, a non-religious guide to better living written by L. Ron Hubbard. In the last several years 2.5 million copies have been distributed in Guatemala, effectively contributing to lowered crime rates through the restoration of traditional values. Each of the attendees were presented with their own copies of The Way to Happiness for their families and communities.
