“I believe it is my responsibility to share the wealth of knowledge that Home Care Assistance has with the community,” said Jonathan Wells, Owner of Home Care Assistance of Douglas County. “Dementia is one of the most significant long-term health challenges we face. Providing public education to reduce caregiver burnout and improve quality of life is clearly in line with our mission to change the way the world ages.”
More than six million people are living with Alzheimer’s in the United States and Canada alone, and this number is expected to more than double by 2050. With over 40 percent of Home Care Assistance clients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, the company has produced a number of resources including specialized caregiver trainings through Home Care Assistance University, various printed resources and public webinars for those caring for someone with dementia and a cognitive intervention program designed to improve quality of life and delay the progression of dementia-related symptoms. The fifth book in the company’s award-winning, healthy longevity book series, Mind Over Grey Matter: A New Approach to Dementia Care, offers practical guidance on caring for an individual with dementia as well as evidence-based techniques to improve quality of life. By being proactive and identifying potential problems that dementia sufferers may encounter, caregivers can better provide for their safety and wellbeing.
