Temposonics® MH-Series Sensors Receive Approval for Use in Safety-Related Applications
(PRWEB) September 08, 2014 -- MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, today announced that Temposonics® MH-Series position sensors are now approved for operation in safety-related applications around the world. The sensors meet the requirements of Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL2) to IEC 61508, as well as the requirements of Performance Level d to ISO 13849-1.
Outputs covered under this approval include both analog (voltage 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc; current 4 to 20 mA) and digital (CANopen Safety; according to CiA DS 304- Device profile DS-406 V3.1). Electrical stroke ranges from 50 mm to 2,500 mm are available.
Built-in diagnostic functions of the MH-Series position sensors ensure a high degree of functional safety. Temposonics® MH-series sensors are designed for single channel architecture according to performance level d (Pld) - Cat2 according to ISO 13849. They are designed to perform optimally in high-demand operations and improve the safety of the machines in which they are used. Possible applications include utility vehicles that must meet special safety requirements. Mobile hydraulics applications include steering systems found in construction or agricultural machines and crane overload systems.
