Tesla Suit will deliver to the wearer the sense of touching and feeling in the virtual world
London, UK (PRWEB) September 15, 2014
Tesla Studios Ltd has announced the development of the patent-pending “Tesla Suit” technology, a wireless suit made of smart textile clothing fully integrated into a virtual reality system.
The Tesla Suit performs a dual role as a motion capture system (fully wireless without the need for external devices) and a state-of-the-art smart textile, incorporating thousands of nodes to directly stimulate sensation and pleasure in the skin through tiny electric pulses. This will deliver to the wearer the sense of touching and feeling in the virtual world. From the warm breeze of a summer’s day to the sudden impact of a bullet, the sensation of touch will be realized without vibration or noise in a textile that is not bulky or intrusive and can be worn like normal clothing.
The full body Tesla Suit consists of a belt (with a central control unit) together with modular units – haptic feedback gloves, vest and trousers – and will be fully compatible with existing virtual reality headsets such as the Oculus, Google Glass and META Space Glasses as well as consoles (PSP, Xbox), PC and smartphones.
The first Tesla Suit modules will be available on the market in mid 2015. All the modules are independent units fully compatible with each other – as the user collects these modules together they will form the full body Tesla Suit.
Tesla Studios will be making announcements soon with further details concerning product development, investment opportunities and a forthcoming Kickstarter campaign.
