Security Innovation Launches Embedded Security Business Unit
Wilmington, MA (PRWEB) September 09, 2014 -- Security Innovation, a leader in software security, announces the creation of its Embedded Security Business Unit. This business unit will combine Security Innovation’s widespread embedded software security products and experts into one team, providing customers with a one-stop shop for software security consulting, services and products.
In 2009, Security Innovation, Inc. acquired NTRU CryptoSystems because of its deep expertise in embedded and automotive security. In the ensuing 5 years, Security Innovation has systematically expanded its offerings in embedded security to include eLearning for software engineers, V2X (vehicle-to-vehicle/infrastructure/device) communications products and consulting, and cryptography to secure critical data. Security Innovation’s Chief Scientist, Dr. William Whyte, co-authored the V2X communication protocols for the US and EU (IEEE 1609.2 and ETSI TS 103 097 standards, respectively) and the company now has a 12-year history of providing platform-specific security solutions for embedded systems that range from personal computers, ATMs, e-voting machines, automobiles, and other software-dependent systems.
“Security Innovation has been improving software security for embedded systems for almost ten years,” said Pete Samson, Senior VP and GM of the Embedded Security Business Unit. “By consolidating our embedded security and crypto assets into one team, we are now in a better position to help organizations strengthen the security and privacy of their embedded applications.”
The unit’s products and services include:
Aerolink™ - the industry-leading implementation of high-speed communications security for connected vehicles based on the IEEE 1609.2 and ETSI TS 103 097 standards.
NTRU Crypto - a lattice-based public key cryptosystem that has the smallest key size and highest performance of all the most popular asymmetric algorithms, making it ideal for mobile and embedded applications. NTRU offers encryption, decryption, and signing and has been adopted as IEEE 1363.1 and X9 Standards.
TCG Software Stack (TSS) – security middleware that provides a direct interface to any TPM1.2 or upcoming TPM2.0 chip for applications from a variety of software vendors.
Aerolock – a Linux-based whitelisting solution for embedded products.
TEAM Academy – a comprehensive enterprise eLearning platform for training developers, architects, project managers and testers, with courses and content specific to creating secure embedded software.
Penetration Testing – embedded system security testing to provide a clear understanding of your hardware and software application's vulnerabilities and attack surface.
Architecture & Design Review – analysis of system attack surface to identify problems before they propagate into hard-to-fix vulnerabilities in embedded systems.
Security Code Review – codebase analysis to locate constructs that lead to security vulnerabilities. The result is a detailed report outlining issues and suggested remediation.
Security Innovation’s Embedded Security Business Unit currently has offices in Boston, Seattle, and Detroit, MI. The company plans to expand to Germany in early 2015.
As an active and influential practitioner in this field, Security Innovation's understanding of the security requirements and vulnerabilities in Automotive, Consumer and Industrial embedded systems helps its customers improve the security of products they develop. Security Innovation is a contributing member to organizations such as ITS America, OmniAir, ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), and the European Car2Car Consortium.
