Grand Opening Event of Sacramento Treatment Program Makes an Immediate Impact
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2014 -- Valley Recovery Center of California (Valley) held its Grand Opening event at the Guild Theater Friday, September 5th, after an official ribbon cutting ceremony on-site at the facility. While also celebrating the 25th year of National Recovery Month, Valley provided local providers of behavioral health, the recovery community, clients, alumni and the general public a program of speakers to share their message. This included Chris Herren, former Fresno State basketball star, NBA player, and Executive Partner of Summit and Trey Carter, CEO of Valley’s parent company, Summit Behavioral Healthcare, LLC (Summit).
After a short video on Herren highlighting his role as Executive Partner in Summit and his belief in the value of treatment, Trey Carter introduced Valley, Summit and Chris to the audience members. “How lucky are we to be a part of changing someone’s life for the better and also make a living by working in the treatment field,” stated Carter. Mr. Carter shared of his enthusiasm and pride of the company in which he co-founded in 2013. “We have created a company that focuses every day on the delivery of affordable and accessible high quality substance abuse services while ensuring it is delivered with a level of compassion and competence that is unparalleled," stated Carter. “When Chris and I sat down and had coffee at our first meeting, we just clicked, sharing the same views,” continued Carter.
Herren, a familiar name from his days at Fresno State and a former NBA player, is now a national recovery advocate and motivational speaker for substance abuse prevention and treatment. Preparing to speak at the event, a man approached Herren, shook his hand and thanked him for the inspiration he has provided to himself and so many. The man then went on to thank the President and co-Founder of Summit Karen Prince for providing the opportunity to see Herren and congratulated them both on the partnership.
“As I was being introduced, I paced out front knowing that what I say may make a difference and impact a person’s life.It is a responsibility I do not take lightly," stated Herren. Throughout his presentation, many in the theater teared up and showed signs of relating to what Herren was saying. “I don't say I’m sorry to my kids anymore, I live my life in recovery and show them with actions,” Herren continued in his story.
Listening in the front row was a man who shared that he drove from a distance to hear Chris, and the man admitted to being in active withdrawal. Chris and the staff of Valley were able to get the man assessed and admitted to the appropriate level of treatment immediately.
