Health experts Amy Windham, an American Institutes for Research (AIR) Senior Researcher, San Keller, AIR Managing Research Scientist, and AIR Institute Fellow Steven Garfinkel will introduce the Consumer-based Cancer Care Value Index (CCCVI) at an event convened by the National Patient Advocate Foundation on September 9, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. ET at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The CCCVI identifies and measures what patients value most in their cancer care. It informs providers on how to align care more closely with patients’ preferences by measuring what patients find most important in their care and the degree to which the most valued aspects of care are experienced during their treatment.

The CCCVI was developed and pilot tested by a team of researchers at AIR in partnership with Mayo Clinic, and numerous patients and stakeholders in the field provided input. AIR and Mayo Clinic will also field test the survey this fall; a final release of the Index is projected for 2015.
